The Bijou
Some of us sparkle more than others
The Bijou cocktail was named for each component mimicking the color of three jewels—diamonds (gin), vermouth (ruby), and Chartreuse (emerald). This cocktail gets a lot of attention on the internet. It was absent for a good bit of the 20th Century until Dale DeGroff resurfaced it in the 1980s. Below is my take on the vintage drink. Given that I have a bottle of Chartreuse during an extreme shortage, the Monks must love me and hate my enemies.
The Bijou
Potion:
1 ½ oz Gin (Tanqueray)
¾ oz Sweet Vermouth (Carpano Antica Formula)
¼ oz Green Chartreuse
